Year 6 Grosvenor Hall 2017 - UPDATE
Year 6 have had a great time so far! After we arrived in the afternoon, we unpacked, settled in and went straight to our first activity - bushcraft fire lighting and abseiling. Those who took part in bush craft fire lighting all managed to light their own fire! Our evening entertainment was a quiz, we had to identify different flags, symbols and different songs; the pineapple peacock group won! Today some of our activities include field games, swimming and archery!
Day 2 has been another fun filled day! Activities have included the 3G swing; we had to work as a team to pull the rope along so the swing would become higher, swimming, frisbee golf, orienteering and archery! After a busy day, we sang songs around the camp fire and toasted marshmallows, followed by a drink of hot cocoa!
We have loved the team building activities this week! This morning, some of the group went on a nature walk, exploring the grounds at Kingswood; we even learnt how to calculate the age of a tree! Mrs Turvey came to visit us and helped us with some mind-boggling problem solving activities. After lunch, we took part in an activity called High Equilibrium- we had to carefully climb up a wooden pole individually and then balance (in a pair!) on the seesaw on top of the pole- this was one of our favourite activities so far. Our climbing skills were then also put to the test in the indoor climbing wall, some of us made it all the way to the top! After dinner, our collaboration really helped us in the scrapheap challenge. We are looking forward to another action packed day tomorrow!

Welcome to Burstow Primary School
“Our school is chock-full of people who really care! Our friendly staff are happy and creative, our children are positive and empowered. It is a pleasure to be part of the ‘family’ and the growing successes at Burstow,” Miss Claire Hodgson, Headteacher.
Burstow Primary School is located in the heart of the small Surrey village of Smallfield. Little touches give it a unique learning experience for children who are lucky enough to attend. From our homemade food, with meat sourced from the village butcher to swimming lessons for all children with our private swimming teacher, in our own beautiful outdoor heated pool. It’s a great place to spend your childhood.
We value individuality and look for each child to find their own passion. Our children have the chance to learn to play anything from electric guitar to recorder with our music teacher and have the opportunity to perform to us all during assemblies. Our children also enjoy their own wonderful sports coaches who keep us all fit and busy during Breakfast club and every lunchtime!
Of course, learning to value learning is crucial to our ethos and this is evident in both the ‘Can-do’ positive attitudes of our children and the results we achieve when the children leave in Year 6, which are higher than both the National standard and the standard within Surrey.
Please expect a warm welcome when you visit us and, in the meantime, enjoy looking around our website!
